Living with Eating Disorders - June 9th 2015
On June 9th 2015, Bournemouth University launched two new eating disorders videos, featuring students, staff, and members of the general public. The participants openly discussed their experience of living with an eating disorder, or caring for someone. The films were created by Dr Sarah Muir (Senior Lecturer) and Dr James Palfreman-Kay (Equality and Diversity Manager) in collaboration with Time to Change, BEAT (the national eating disorder charity), Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust, and Healthwatch Dorset. To mark the launch, a mini-conference was held, where speakers shared some of their expertise and presented their work. The keynote speaker was Lorna Garner, CEO of BEAT. The programme can be viewed here.
The films show how eating disorders affect those with the illness and their carers and how recovery restores hope for the future:
